On regular days, old cookies you find in the back of your pantry are enough to give you your daily sugarfix, but sometimes you need to kick things up a notch and indulge in a real, honest-to-goodnes, guilt-free dessert.
Enter Buttercream Cupcakes and Coffee in South Miami.
This small shop, nestled in a pink shopping center on SW 72nd street, has the answer to our prayers: moist cupcakes topped with–you guessed it– fluffy buttercream frosting.
Owners Jose and Kristine were kind enough to talk to us about their experience with the shop, their origins, and most importantly, their award-winning cupcakes.
During the interview, Kristine made me a steaming cup of their famous hot chocolate (literally melted chocolate in steamed milk), while Jose explained Buttercream Cupcakes’ intricate flavor schedule. Basically, they follow a three-tier structure, where they have the classic flavors everyday, and then offer random flavors depending on the day of the week and the season. So if you want to try all 18 flavors, I recommend you plan your visits accordingly.
Buttercream Cupcakes also prides itself on using only high quality ingredients, like sweet cream butter, imported belgian chocolate, and sprinkles from France. These aren’t just any old cupcakes that you whip up from a box, they are the real deal. Jose reminds me that what sets them apart from other cupcake places in Miami is their attention to detail, and looking around the store I have to say that I agree.
We also caught up with Buttercream Cupcakes and Coffee fan, Bryan, who passed by the shop to pick up some cupcakes for his girlfriend. He had nothing but good things to say about the shop.
If you don’t want to take his word for it, check out Buttercream Cupcakes and Coffee on yelp.
